a brief description of the building
client: petroplus refining cressier sa,
switzerland
volume: 4'122 m3
total floor area:
710 m2
situation
a new control centre must
be realized on the petrol refining
site in cressier. the technical conception was been created by amec, an
engineering company from london specialised in this kind of refining
installations.
beside of control and surveillances installations, the
project must include a cafeteria and relaxing rooms for the employees
(24-hours-per-day-occupation). next to the main building a garage for
the internal fire brigade had to be previewed.
regarding the technical requirements the buildings must resist at an
eventual blast accident on site and be completely proof against
eventual smoke or toxic clouds coming from outside.
solution
m+p tried to integrate the
different needs in a global
solution. it means, the equipment layouts and all technical
requirements had to be respected. In that way a project created by its
function became developed.
a screen made of reinforced concrete will protect controlling and
surveillance installations from eventual blast. that is the reason why
this screen just has openings for access and visual controls. at the
same time all different functions are concentrated behind.
the floor plan is based on a design frame which allows optimal and
economical room divisions inside.
the north elevation, at the back of blast danger, is almost completely
glazed or created as a metallic structure (as the only elevation). the
fire brigade garage is designed on the same base.
the roofs are naturally green (sedum) for ecological, economical and
qualitative reasons. this is the standard of projects by m+p.
