overview of the project
client: leonida gegaj; coiffeur salon
atelier de beauté
redesigned surfaces: 50 m2
situation
in an appartment in a listed building had been a trust office for 20 years. in that appartment had to be created a specially designed room for beauty and hair styling. descering customers that set value on highest quality and service, and that also appreciate a special atmosphere should be addressed.
there had been a parquet floor in the room who is the precurser of the floos in the versailles castle. this floor needed to be preservered. there was also a historical oak-made door with double-wings where one wing was missing. the budget for the redesigned was tight and needed to be kept with all means.
solution
mühlemann + partner had chosen for this smaller but not less decerning project the same way that was used for big industry and administration projects. the complexity of a redesign in a historical and listed building has not to be underestimated. the character of the room had to be maintained and enhanced by minimal but exacly targeted actions. the simple and elegant furniture is harmonizing perfectly with the historical atmosphere of the room and the surroundings.
to keep the parquet floor a platform was built, that contained the installations for the hair washing stations. next to the walls the work places were established. in the center of the room, surrounded by two corbussier-armchairs, is a white table which is also designed by mathias mühlemann. here is the waiting area where people can talk or read magazines.
die
double-wing door to the former kitchen and restroom was reconstructed
with high effort. the former kitchen is now an office for the manager
and a labratory for the colors and chemicals.
